Socialization For Kids at the Dentist, By Rózsakert Medical Center Budapest
We speak to RMC dentist Dr Gabriella Nagy about how she helps her youngest patients get used to going to the dentist.

"While we use words to communicate with our adult patients, with children we use the method that feels instinctively right: a tangible and visual approach.

Probably the first trick we apply is to ask, – and prefer – if the child accompanies their mom or dad to an adult dental visit so they can get used to the clinic and what happens there.

We also have special socialization visits too, where we show the children how to brush their teeth with an enormous toothbrush and – the kids' favorite – a giant set of teeth. We show the children our – initially scary – machines: a water pistol, tickly drill and magic lamp.

Usually, they find them so fascinating that when they later return to us with a dental problem they aren't scared at all."
