New Warning: High Air Pollution in Hungary
Air quality is dangerous in nine towns and cities in Hungary due to a high concentration of airborne particles, the National Public Health Centre (NNK) said.

Air quality is dangerous in Putnok, Kazincbarcika, Sajószentpéter and Miskolc in northeast Hungary, as well as in Eger, Békéscsaba, Kecskemét, Pécs and Százhalombatta, NNK said.

NNK declared air quality to be “unhealthy” in 11 localities, including Salgótarján, Debrecen, Szeged, Tatabánya, Székesféhervár and Várpalota.

Concentrations of particles are also considered to be too high in Nyíregyháza, Szolnok, Dunaújváros, Budapest, Esztergom and Sopron, NNK said.

Forecasts show a likelihood of rain in north and northeast Hungary, and winds to pick up over the weekend, which is expected to improve air quality.
