New Architecture Legislation in Hungary Proposes Chief Architect Roles
The Act on Hungarian Architecture proposes a three-level chief architect system, which includes a national chief architect, a state chief architect, and a municipal chief architect, according to portfolio.hu.

The national chief architect will be the national leader in the Ministry of Construction and Transport.

The role's tasks include monument protection, settlement planning, and architectural-technical case groups.

The state chief architect will work in county capitals and government offices, and should be a government official who ranks as a department head and possesses the necessary professional qualifications.

The state chief architect's work will be supported by the state chief architect's Office, whose tasks include spatial planning, settlement planning, and architectural-technical case groups.

All settlements with urban status will be obliged to employ their own municipal chief architect from January 1, 2025, at the latest.
