Watch: Homeowners Hit by Mudslide in Hungary to Receive Many Millions in Relief
The government has allocated 500 million forints (EUR 1.3m) in relief for homeowners in Recsk, in north-eastern Hungary, whose property was damaged by a mudslide on June 8, state secretary Miklós Dukai said.

Heavy rain and the subsequent mudslide made 21 homes uninhabitable, Dukai told a press conference.

Although the government has no legal responsibility to provide relief for private property damage in such instances, it may do so on a case-by-case basis out of social responsibility, he said.

Homeowners who apply for the relief must undergo a property assessment and invoice their spending in detail, he added.
