Seasonal Surge: Guest Nights Soar in Hungary's Spa Towns
Guest nights at tourism accommodation in spa towns were up nearly 10% year-on-year in November, according to data from the Hungarian Tourism Agency.

Figures from the National Tourism Data Service Centre show guest nights in paid accommodation in Hajdúszoboszló and Egerszalók, in the east of the country, rose by 22% and 19%, respectively.

Seven spa towns outside Budapest accounted for 56% of guest nights in Hungary during the month. Hévíz, which boasts Europe’s largest thermal lake, drew the most visitors.

Most visitors attracted to Hungary’s popular spa towns come from Austria, Germany and Visegrád Four countries, while towns like Gyula, in the southeast, receive many visitors from Romania.

Spa towns will be popular in the Christmas-New Year holiday season. Government funding has supported upgrades in 14 spa towns around the country in recent years.
