Top Five Festivals Worth Visiting at Lake Balaton This Year
Among the most exciting events at Lake Balaton this year, MOL Nagyon Balaton recommends the Be Massive Horizon's programs, Peter’s Terrace, and the Tábor Festival taking place in Alsóörs.

Additionally, the Bagossy Brothers Company is organizing a mini bike tour around the lake this summer. Cultural events and festivals are expected to attract hundreds of thousands of guests to the area around the lake again this year.

For twelve years now, MOL Nagyon Balaton has been bringing together and showcasing the most exciting productions in the Balaton Region.

The outdoor program series for 2024 kicks off with Be Massive Horizon in Balatonboglár on May 25, followed by the inauguration of new ferries between Szántód and Tihany on June 8. These mark the start of the special Horizon party series, with which MOL Nagyon Balaton is closely connected as a key partner - but that's not all.

1. ZamJam

ZamJam returns in a renewed format as a free event, welcoming its audience to Zamárdi from May 31 to June 2. The three-day festival, which will take place at many venues, will feature performances by Hot Jazz Band and Charlie, together with jazz concerts, children's, sports, art programs, open-air cinema, Trabant tours, markets, and literary terraces.

Summer starts with panoramic fireworks in Tihany

Organizers hope that during these days visitors can enjoy the water of Lake Balaton, and that the eagerly awaited ice-cream parlours and terraces will be open.

2. Szent György Hill Till Dawn

It has almost become a tradition that on the first Saturday of June, the splendid vineyard hill of the Balaton Uplands fills with life, and for a day, the spotlight is on wine-loving nature enthusiasts attending the Szent György Hill TILL DAWN event.

3. Balaton Picnic

Balaton Picnic, the checkered-blanket traveller festival of MOL Nagyon Balaton, arrives in Tihany as usual from June 14 to 16, this time in a new location.

During the day, they will showcase both the city's known and hidden treasures, restaurants, cafés, and other wonderful places.

On Saturday and Sunday at the main venue, there will be markets and pop-up exhibitions by contemporary artists. In the evening, bands and DJs, featuring both domestic and international stars, will perform at the Balaton Picnic. Worakls and Jan Blomqvist have already joined this year's lineup, and ticket sales will start within days.

4. STRAND Festival

The STRAND Festival has become one of the most important events in the Balaton region. Stars of Hungarian clubs and concert venues will share the stage from August 22 to 24. Among others, Azahriah, Bagossy Brothers Company, Majka, Dzsúdló, and Beton.Hofi will perform, while internationally renowned artists like Alok, Elderbrook, and Chase & Status will also be there.

In addition to the unmatched concert lineup, the world of circus is also a significant attraction, not only on stage but also allowing the audience to try themselves out in the world of artists. Moreover, STRAND is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful festival venues in Hungary, on the water’s edge, with a panoramic view of Tihany in the distance.

5. Tábor Festival

Lovers of harder music genres and rock music will be catered for at the Tábor Festival in Alsóörs. From August 28 to 31, more than forty foreign and Hungarian performers, including world-famous acts like Stratovarius, The Toy Dolls, and Korpiklaani, will take the stage.
