    Survey: Fewer Hungarians Earn Minimum Wage

    Fewer Hungarians are working for minimum wage, daily Magyar Idők said on Thursday. About 303,000 labourers in Hungary earn the unskilled minimum wage, gross 138,000 forints (EUR 446) a month, Imre Palkovics, the head of the Labour Councils, told the paper, citing economy ministry data.

    World Bank Raises Hungary GDP Forecasts

    The World Bank Group has forecast Hungarian economic growth of 3.9% in 2017 and 3.8% this year. In the bank’s latest Global Economic Prospects report released on Wednesday the 2017 forecast was bumped up by 0.2 percentage points while the 2018 and 2019 forecasts were each raised by 0.1 percentage point.

    Hungarians were more optimistic about the economy at the end of 2017 than at any point before during the current government term which started in 2014, daily Magyar Idők said on Saturday, citing a survey commissioned by the paper and conducted by Nézőpont Institute.
