    Opposition DK Calls On Parliament Speaker ‘To Stop Lying’ About Hungarian Health Care

    The opposition Democratic Coalition has called on the parliamentary speaker “to stop lying” about a high standard of Hungarian health care. Party lawmaker Lajos Oláh responded to Kövér speaking about the “world class potential” of Hungary’s health care at a gala dinner opening a conference of health ministers from central and Eastern Europe and China in Budapest on Sunday evening.

    Budapest To Host China, Europe Health Conference

    More than 200 Chinese health officials and representatives of 15 European countries will participate at a health conference starting in Budapest on Monday. The event will be opened by China‘s Deputy Premier Liu Yandong and Health and Family Planning Minister Li Bin together with their Hungarian counterparts Zsolt Semjén and Zoltán Balog, human resources ministry state secretary Bence Rétvári said at a background briefing.

    Even pro-government daily Magyar Idők is reporting on the huge human resources shortage in Hungary’s health-care system. According to the conservative online daily, more than 5,000 pension-aged physicians and nurses have been granted exemptions under the “work or retirement” governmental decree in force since 2013. Now health-care sector managers and interest groups are calling for the decree to be reviewed.
