    Per capita purchasing power has jumped above EUR 6,000 in Hungary, which is still less than half of the European average. The countryʼs ranking has not moved from 30th among 42, according to a report by market researcher GfK.

    Retail Sales Climb 5.4 Pc In September

    Retail sales in Hungary rose by an annual 5.4 percent in September, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a first reading of data released on Tuesday. Sales growth accelerated from 4.2 percent in July and 4.7 percent in August. The September increase was 6.0 percent when adjusted for calendar-year effects.

    Hungary Asks EU To Raise VAT Ceiling

    Hungary is asking for the European Union’s approval to raise the VAT turnover threshold for small businesses, Economy Minister Mihály Varga told the state news channel M1. Currently companies reporting less than Ft 8 million are exempt from VAT registration, which the government wants to increase to Ft 12 million from January 1, 2019.
