Singer/songwriter, formally of English band 'Storyville' (Nursery Records - original home of Welsh band Catatonia) seeks musicians in Budapest to form a real band – working, creating, existing.

Interested parties should hopefully have some talent (although preferably someone who doesn’t like the words 'muso' or 'pro' instinctively) and preferably some experience, although the right kind of enthusiasm and sense of humour counts for a lot! The other major prerequisite is a very open mind about music. I’ve played a lot of gigs in my life, all round the UK and in other countries, made a lot of records, promo videos, etc, but I never stopped to think about what 'type' of music I was playing. I would like to take a fresh approach to a new band, forget my experience and expand as a musician and a performer. I’ve been playing guitar since I was about 7 years old, but I’ve become stuck and I want to get somewhere new with it. I have a 1975 Guild acoustic, gig-ready, although no amp at the moment. I’ve been in Hungary for 5 years now and I’m going crazy without a band. I have a pile of songs I’ve been writing to bring to the table - what about you?

Ideally, I’d like to meet the following people (male or female, age and nationality irrelevant, although I only speak English and a little Russian) – think less wish list and more dream line up:

A violin player who knows how to play wild gypsy style but who could also play sweet country/bluegrass fiddle anytime they want and who grew up listening to The Stooges. (I know it’s a tall order!)

A guitar player who likes guitarists like Johnny Marr (not Eric Clapton – no offence) not because they are cool but because they are so freaking versatile. And because they can still manage a cool haircut in the meantime.

A piano/keyboard player who doesn’t see that much difference between boogie-woogie and Brahms and knows them both.

A drummer who can keep a beat and who doesn’t care if a tempo is fashionable or not.

Aikido Club... Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art. It is much more defensive than offensive, relying on the redirection of an attackers energy/force. I intensively trained in a particular style of Aikdio for several years and am looking for people who are interested in learning Aikido. I would like to begin the club as soon as I find a few people and a place to train. As this would be an informal club the only cost might be the cost of the gym/training space.
