St. Stephen’s day,  20th August, Budapest "Szent István's day formally celebrates the birth of the Hungarian Christian state, which dates back to the middle of the 11th century. Informally it also signals the end of the summer season in Hungary, so its a day of mixed emotions for many locals and expats alike.

Tourists also plan visits to enjoy the biggest national holiday in Hungary with firework shows nationwide, and many special events including the spectacular Red Bull Air Race in Budapest.

Flört Summer Closing, 19 August, Siófok Flört is the biggest club in Siofok near Lake Balaton, and so is a popular summer party hang-out for locals, expats and tourists.

This event marked the end of the 'official' summer season and raised spirits for the colder months to come.
