St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, Becketts Pub, 17 March

When I came to Budapest many pints of Guinness ago, there weren’t too many places celebrating St. Patrick’s day. Now the city has many that really embrace this joyous occasion, none more so than one of the original Irish pubs in town.

The venue in question is of course 'Samuel Beckett's Irish Gastro Pub', better known just as Becketts. Since it moved from the famous old place on Bajcsy Zsilinszky to its new home on Liszt Ferenc square, it has gradually climbed back up the party place league table, and is now really enjoying itself again.

Last Friday around 500 folks enjoyed the atmosphere there between 11am until the last guest left, and when I was there around 200 were in the pub celebrating St. Patricks Day in style.
