'Lake Tisza', Hungary, Summer 2007
|
"Lake Tisza (Tisza -to), also known as Kiskore Reservoir is nearly 28 miles long (35 km) and 3.7 miles wide (6 km). Established in the 1970s on the River Tisza, it is a large expanse of open water, with numerous islands, extensive reedbeds, and floating vegetation. It provides habitat for a wide variety of resident and passage birds, including the IBA qualifying Great White Egret (Egretta alba), the Night-heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), the White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons), and the Greylag Goose (Anser anser).
Recreational activities on the Lake include angling, boating, and hunting, and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hungary, attracting travelers who seek quiet relaxation in the arms of nature as well as those who prefer chasing the wind on Jet Skis."
