'ELVIRA' is the name of the passenger information system of the Hungarian State Railway, and so is referred to as 'she'. E.g. "When ELVIRA is seraching (sic) for route offers, she considers the time necessary for a change and the time required to get to another station in Budapest or some other cities. If the time from the arrival time of a train to the departure time of the connecting train is less than the time of the change or the catch set in the software, she will not offer this route.
It may happen however that a passenger with fast feet, local knowledge and due experience can catch the connection. The change and catch times set in ELVIRA are average values based on experience, needed for an average passanger (sic) to catch the connection in the daytime, in average traffic.
If ELVIRA counted less time for a change and catch, the change or catch would be impracticable for many people. And if she counted more time, some correct route offers would be missed."
