"Index.hu, one of Hungary's most popular internet portals, has purchased a majority stake in Confhotel-Net, which operates travel portal C-Travel.hu, for an undisclosed price, Confhotel-Net announced.Confhotel-Net expects the deal to transform C-Travel.hu into Hungary's biggest travel portal.
C-Travel.hu started up in 2003, offering online booking for quality hotels, mainly in Hungary. Because of changes to the portal in 2006, it now offers bookings at more foreign hotels.
Confhotel-Net Akos Erdos said the company expects to close 2006 with revenue of HUF 90m, twice as much as in 2005. In 2007, revenue could rise to HUF 150m, he said. About 90pc of the portals revenue is generated through sales in Hungary.
C-Travel.hu is visited by 5,000 people a day. About 60pc of the 2,500 monthly queries at the site result in bookings."
