Yesterday's Tomorrow Theme For Architecture Month

Yesterday's Tomorrow Theme For Architecture Month
"The Month of Architecture, a celebration of creativity and an examination of how humans shape their environment, kicks off October 1, World Architecture Day, with the them Yesterday's Tomorrow.

The Month of Architecture is being organised for the fifth time this year, again under the direction of its founder Iván András Bojár. The theme for this year's festival is Yesterday's Tomorrow. Some 170 events are planned at 65 venues in 15 cities and towns during the month.

The goal of this year's festival is to show that architecture is going through a defining period not seen since the turn of the 19th century, says Bojár. The architecture of the 21st century, the modern face of Hungary, is being decided today.

Among the exhibitions, the biggest draws are likely to be the Körzőgzár Gallery's show, entitled Ha!!, of unrealised visions for buildings in Hungary, and the Design Salon at the Magyar Telekom corporate headquarters. The latter is organised in cooperation with Design 7, an independent design programme taking place between October 8 and 14.

An exhibition at the Abigail Gallery should also prove very interesting. The gallery will show the work of Hungarian artists working abroad - works which are hardly known in Hungary.

Also on the programme for the Month of Architecture are talk shows, photo exhibitions, conferences, "architects in swim suits", bicycle tours, castle walks, book launches, star DJs and parties.

Other cities participating in the programme beside Budapest include Szentendre, Győr, Fertőd, Pécs, Nyíregyháza Eger, Szeged and Pellérd."
