"Dutch electronics giant Philips expects sales in Hungary to go up by at least 10% this year, Hungarian newswire cited Benedikt Laux, Philips regional director, as telling a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.Laux said sales of hygiene products have increased 20% in the past year, flat-screen television sales have climbed 30%, lighting sales have grown 6% and sales of household appliances have increased 4%. In the appliances segment, Philips' market share rose to 20%.
Laux declined to reveal absolute figures for Hungary, citing company policy.
Group sales rose 7% yr/yr to EUR 6,524 m in the third quarter, driven by growth in the consumer business and in key emerging markets. EBITDA grew to EUR 438 m or 6.7% of sales, compared with EUR 71 m o r1.1% of sales in July-September 2006. Net income amounted to EUR 331 m; Q3 2006 net income included a gain of EUR 4,241 m, largely attributable to the sale of the Semiconductors division."
