Smart Wings To Open Budapest Dubai Service

Smart Wings To Open Budapest Dubai Service
"Budapest Airport’s (BA) growing network is expanding with a new destination, as Smart Wings launches a direct air link between Budapest and Dubai from 14 May.

The Czech discount airline will fly once a week between Dubai and Budapest, every Wednesday at 14:15 with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The new flight will not only extend the number of destinations in the Middle East available from Budapest Airport, but also provide a direct air link between the Hungarian capital and one of the most important air traffic hubs of the world.
Currently five direct flights are available from Budapest Airport to the Middle East: Beirut, Cairo, Damascus and Tel Aviv operated by Malév, and Amman by Royal Jordanian.

Dubai International Airport (DXP) is the largest gateway in the United Arab Emirates and is the hub airport of its national carrier, Emirates. DXP served on average 95 thousand passengers a day in 2007, the airport’s total passenger traffic exceeded 35 million last year. Currently 120 airlines operate at the airport flying to 205 destinations in every continent of the world. Apart from visiting Dubai, the new Smart Wings flight opens the way for passengers of Budapest Airport to reach the furthermost points of the Far East, Africa and Australia via Dubai.

Smart Wings operates two weekly flights from Budapest to Madrid based on code share cooperation with Air Europa.
Budapest Airport Business Development Director Dimitrios Gatsonis said: “It is great news for our passengers who can not only reach Dubai in a few hours from Budapest, but also can fly to many other places of the world with only one stop on the way. I’m also glad that Smart Wings decided to launch a long-haul flight, hopefully more carriers will follow and increase the number of overseas destinations”.

Information on Dubai:

Dubai is the second largest city of the United Arab Emirates and in the last ten years it has become one of the most important financial centers of the world. The city is visited by millions of tourists every year.

The average temperature in Dubai is around 33 Celsius degrees.

Dubai is home to the tallest hotel – 321 meters - in the world. Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island and the price of its most elegant suite can go up to 50 000 dollars a night.

Palm Islands are not yet ready but a number of world stars have already bought their very own island off the shores of the city. The construction of the artificial islands is the biggest land reclamation project of the world.

The construction of another artificial archipelago, “The World” concluded this year. The 300 man made islands form the map of the world. 386 million tons of rock were moved and 232 kilometers of new coastline was created during the works. The first residents will move in within two years.

Dubai is known for its supertall skyscrapers such as the Rose Tower, the Emirates Towers and the building s of the Dubai Marina.

In the museum of the Al Fahidi Fort visitors can have an inside look into the ancient lifestyle of the Bedouins. The biggest attraction of the museum is the 2000 years old complete grave from the Al-Qusais archeological site."
