New In Budapest: 'The Forbidden Kingdom'

New In Budapest: 'The Forbidden Kingdom'
"While hunting down bootleg kung-fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China.

There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk. But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.

Movie type: Action Adventure - This is a martial arts-heavy fantasy adventure aimed at male viewers and the family set. The whole film may skew a bit too young for the tastes of die hard Jackie Chan and Jet Li fans, but the many action scenes will not disappoint.

Director: Rob Minkoff

Script: John Fusco

Starring: Jackie Chan (Lu Yan), Jet Li, Michael Angarano (Jason Tripitikas)

Length: 1 hr. 53 min.

Reviews:

“Good The Forbidden Kingdom is for those who like plenty of kung fu action with an epic fantasy setting and a little humor thrown in. When all is said and done, the dream team combination of Chan and Li is just a nice bonus.” Berardinelli, Internet Critic

“Good Chan is terrific in a familiar role...and Li is right at home in the role of the warrior monk,... But to see the two of them on screen together, even past their primes, is a delight.” TV Guide Online

“Good 'The Forbidden Kingdom' makes up for its flaws with plenty of eye-popping moments.” Newsday
