Work On Motorcycle Race Track Begins

Work On Motorcycle Race Track Begins
"The foundation stone of the Balatonring motorcycle race track was laid Thursday in Sávoly, Somogy county, near Lake Balaton. The venue will host next year’s inaugural Hungarian Moto GP.

The Balatonring was granted the right to host the annual motorcycle competition in three categories over the next five years for €5 million. Spanish construction firm Sadesa will build the track at a cost of around Ft 200 million. The operating rights will be assigned to Balatonring, with a 70% stake held by Spanish Worldwide Circuit Management and 30% by the Hungarian Tourism Office.

Hungary expects the facility and its events to attract 100,000 visitors each year. The race will be hosted in September next year, and in the spring season in the following four years.

Sadesa previously announced plans to build a €500 million property development in the area, including wellness centres, luxury hotels and an 18-hole golf course."
