The roots of the public transport in Budapest trace back to the second half of the XIXth century. The reform era brought exceptional changes to the transport sector too: in 1832 the first omnibus started its running, which was followed by the more significant horse tramway in Pest in 1866, then in Buda in 1869. The capital's two special means of transport - steam-driven in the beginning -, the funicular and the cogwheel railway were put into traffic in 1870 and 1874. Click here for the full story!
