The Budapest Rugby Watching and Beer Drinking Association, or BRWBDA for short, came to life in late July.
Since then, it has been meeting most Saturdays. Requirement number one is that rugby is being shown on a big screen. Requirement number two is that beer is for sale.
"The main aim is to provide a networking event that is totally off the track," said Bruce Anderson, the Managing Director of VSDC Corporate Training and BRWBDA secretary.
"In other words, no ties required and you are expected to have a few beers. We’re not expecting a massive female turn out. There are a dedicated handful of ladies, primarily from the Antipodean regions who regularly turn up, but it remains 95% chaps."
The association usually meets at Champs bar and now boasts more than 160 registered members.
Prior to an event, Anderson sends out a group email notifying members of the venue and time. In addition to the opportunity to network, watch rugby and drink beer, there is also a chance to win a hamper of food if you guess the score of the game correctly.
Anyone interested in knowing more about the BRWBDA should contact Anderson directly via email at bruce@whereareutoday.com
