Celebrating Hungary’s entry to the EU on May 1, a big concert on Hôsök tere on the evening of April 30 features music from around Europe, including Irish band Shane McGowan and the Popes, Khaled from France, and Värttinä from Finland. A six-day series of free concerts, movies and exhibitions at the Millenáris Park begins April 27. On the afternoon of April 30, Andrássy út will be open to pedestrians only, as will the Danube embankment all day May 1.April 27–May 2, Millenáris Park. April 30, Hôsök tere. ALL IN THE SAME BOAT – The A38 boat joins the EU accession festivities on April 30, when the floating club has its first birthday celebratory concert featuring France’s La Familia (pictured). May 1 features German reggae band Seeed. Entry is free.

EU-PHONY – Celebrating EU accession, and a poetry revival in both Hungary and the U.K., Converging Lines features performances and workshops by poets from both countries, including Tony Harrison (pictured), Krisztina Tóth, Dániel Varró and Owen Sheers. It is organized by the British Council and The Bardroom.
