The center housing the unified labor database EMMA was officially opened by Labor Minister Sándor Burány yesterday. The database will initially contain information on the 2.5 million Hungarians employed in the business sector and their 300,000 employers. Employees can check that they are listed on the database and that the basic wage given is correct. They can also verify whether their employers have, in fact, registered them for social security. From May 1, employers will have to notify EMMA whenever hiring or firing employees. (Econews; NG 3, Nv 3, Vg 4, MH 11)
