Hungarian champions Ferencvaros have appointed Csaba Laszlo as their new manager, the club said on Monday. Laszlo replaces Attila Pinter, who had been fired on Friday after he refused to sign an amended contract designed to moderate his abrasive manner with his players.
Despite winning the title and the Cup, Pinter had been criticised for his behaviour and harsh language on and off the field by both players and other club members.
Last week, the players handed in a written complaint to the board about Pinter's behaviour and the club redrafted the manager's contract to include clauses regulating his behaviour. Pinter refused to sign the new contract.
Laszlo, who signed a two-year contract, had been national coach Lothar Matthaus's assistant.
