Although 7.7 million mobile phones are in use in Hungary, only half a million owners subscribe to mobile bank services. According to financial institutions, many mobile phone users find the subscription fees to these services too high; others do not trust mobile banking. Currently, only three banks offer services that can be initiated by the client, but these transactions are all WAP-based. At OTP Bank Rt, Hungary's largest lender, one in every ten retail client subscribe to mobile banking, while at CIB Bank Rt, almost half of the 200,000-strong retail clientele is a subscriber.
