Philip Morris Hungary Kft shut down production, as planned, at its cigarette factory in Eger (NE Hungary) at the start of the year, a spokeswoman for the company said yesterday. Philip Morris has made cigarettes at the factory since 1992. Philip Morris has offered jobs in its distribution network to 66 of the factory's 348 employees. Philip Morris will start delivering its own cigarettes to retailers by March, employing 270 people for the job. The company will sell the factory and it will probably be turned into a recreation center by the city. (Econews; Nv 5, MH 12, Nb 15, Ng 5)
