TRAVEL, CARAT 2005

13TH INTERNATIONAL JEWELLERY, PRECIOUS STONES AND
WATCH TRADE EXHIBITION AND FAIR
17 – 20 MARCH 2005, HUNGEXPO BUDAPEST FAIR CENTER

This year’s TRAVEL and CARAT exhibitions will be held on more than 19,000 sqm at the HUNGEXPO Budapest Fair Center, 17-20 March, with displays, shows and accompanying events more wide-ranging and exciting than ever.
The rate of foreign participation at TRAVEL is record-breaking – 40% more than last year- : 46 countries – including Hungary – will be presenting themselves on national stands or through tourism offices and travel agencies. The 861 Hungarian and foreign exhibitors will be offering a wide variety of holiday options and recreational activities ranging from the conventional types of trips and family holidays to different forms of active relaxation - horseriding, whitewater rafting and safari excursions – as well as fitness and wellness programmes designed to encourage visitors to lead a healthier life. Also, most exhibitors will offer substantial discounts at TRAVEL. It is worth noting that visitors will be able to attend musical and dance shows and see well-known performers on the stage of Pavilion “B” and on exhibitors’ stands.

Our special guests at this year’s TRAVEL are Jordan and Békés county.
Besides a wide range of programmes for tourists, visitors can also find out about the natural environment in these places, and will be introduced to the two regions’ cultural, artistic and gastronomic traditions.
Stand allocation follows the traditions of the last few years: Pavilion A is for foreign countries and for trips abroad offered by Hungarian organisations while Pavilions B and D are for Hungarian regions, agencies organizing domestic trips, tourism offices and equestrian holidays.

The main accompanying event of TRAVEL is „TRAVEL Gastro-date”, a series of delicious events and competitions, which will probably attract at least as many visitors to Pavilions C and C2 as last year.

Three important trade conferences will round out the exhibition this year, providing up-to-date information to tourism professionals about American visa regulations, links between air traffic and tourism, and the present situation of equestrian tourism.

The CARAT exhibition is held simultaneously with TRAVEL once again, and this year gold jewellery will be occupying centre stage. Visitors can view and purchase all the wonderful jewels in Pavilion F.
A novelty in this year’s exhibition is the Events Island located in Pavilion A, offering visitors a peaceful and pleasant spot for relaxation and entertainment at the „TRAVEL Cinema”, the Tourism Photo Exhibition, Game Island and the Tea-room.
Those interested in horseriding and motorcycling can try the riding „arena” and the off-road track in the open area.
The first day (17 March) of the TRAVEL and CARAT exhibitions is a trade day, the following days (18-20 March) are open to the public as well. The two exhibitions can be visited with the same admission ticket.

The exhibition will be opened on the trade day, on 17 March at 11 a.m. in Pavilion B by István Kolber, minister without portfolio in charge of regional development and convergence.
Visitors travelling to the exhibition on any of Volánbusz Plc.’s domestic bus services are offered a 50% discount.
The Hungarian Railways Co. Ltd. (MÁV) launches special trains on the public days of TRAVEL from 18 to 20 March, that run every 30 minutes between railway station „Nyugati” and „Kõbánya Teher” station (HUNGEXPO Budapest Fair Center, gate no. VI). Tickets can be be bought at ticket office no. 9 on station „Nyugati”.
Beside these special trains, some intercity- and express train stops at station „Kõbánya felsõ”, near gate no III. of HUNGEXPO Budapest Fair Center during TRAVEL exhibition.
