Source: Nua - "Traffic to travel websites has recovered substantially since September 11, reports Newsbytes..." New research released by Nielsen NetRatings shows that traffic to Orbitz rose 72 percent between September and January, while traffic to Travelocity was up 43 percent in the same period, and visits to Expedia were up 14 percent.
The American Airlines site received 20 percent more visits, and the Southwest Airlines site received 17 percent more.
Expedia had the most visitors of any travel site in January at almost 10.2 million. Over 9.4 million visited Travelocity last month, and almost 7 million went to Orbitz, up from 4 million in September.
Over 5.2 million people went to the Southwest Airlines site and 4.5 million to the American Airlines site.
