Soccer-Larsson returns to Sweden squad

Sweden coach Lars Lagerback has included Henrik Larsson in a 22-man squad for the World Cup Group Eight qualifiers against Bulgaria and Hungary.

The Barcelona striker, who opened the scoring for Sweden in their 2-1 friendly victory against the Czech Republic last week, was sidelined for most of last season with torn knee ligaments.

Larsson, 33, is likely to form an attacking duo with Juventus striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who missed the Czech game because of a damaged calf muscle.

Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is also in the squad after he was feared to have injured his knee during Sunday's 1-0 Premier League defeat by Chelsea.

Sweden are second in Group Eight, one point behind leaders Croatia. They play Bulgaria at home on September 3 and Hungary away on September 7.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Andreas Isaksson (Stade Rennes), Eddie Gustafsson (Ham-Kam Fotball)

Defenders: Christoffer Andersson (Lillestrom), Mikael Dorsin (Rosenborg), Erik Edman (Tottenham Hotspur), Petter Hansson (Heerenveen), Teddy Lucic (BK Hacken), Olof Mellberg (Aston Villa), Alexander Ostlund (Feyenoord)

Midfielders: Niclas Alexandersson (IFK Gothenburg), Daniel Andersson (Malmo), Kim Kallstrom (Stade Rennes), Tobias Linderoth (FC Copenhagen), Fredrik Ljungberg (Arsenal), Anders Svensson (IF Elfsborg), Christian Wilhelmsson (Anderlecht)

Forwards: Marcus Allback (FC Copenhagen), Johan Elmander (Brondby), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Juventus), Mattias Jonson (Djurgardens IF), Henrik Larsson (Barcelona), Markus Rosenberg (Ajax)
