Now Showing In Budapest: 'Knowing'
" A capsule is opened and a girl's cryptic message ends up in the hands of Caleb. His father, Professor Koestler makes a startling discovery about the encoded message which pinpoints accuracy the dates, death tolls and every major disaster of the past 50 years. He also realizes the document foretells three additional events. He tries to alert the authorities but they will not listen."

Movie type: Drama Action Thriller - This is not the action-packed yarn the trailers make it out to be but a more slow-paced thriller with a couple of big effects sequences. This is more or less a one-man show for star Nicolas Cage, whose fans will be pleased. There isn't too much in the way of objectionable content, but kids would be bored.

Director: Alex Proyas

Starring: Nicolas Cage (John Koestler), Chandler Canterbury (Caleb Koestler)

Length: 1 hr. 55 min.

Script: Ryne Douglas Pearson, Juliet Snowden, Stiles White

Reviews:

Berardinelli, Internet Critic: “Average Knowing is a classic case of a movie that is crammed with interesting ideas but is unable to conceptualize them in a compelling fashion.”

Roger Ebert: ”Excellent 'Knowing' is among the best science-fiction films I've seen -- frightening, suspenseful, intelligent and, when it needs to be, rather awesome.”

USA Today: “Below Average Knowing closely follows the guidebook for mystical thrillers with paranormal themes. Clichés abound. And when all else fails in this by-the-numbers numerological thriller, director Alex Proyas turns up the volume of the bombastic score to 11.”

Newsday: “Average 'Knowing,' an apocalyptic blend of sci-fi, horror and faith, is almost certain to be the most harrowing hooey you see in a theater this year.”
