Now Showing In Budapest: 'The Last House on the Left'
"The night she arrives at the remote Collingwood lakehouse, Mari and her friend are kidnapped by a prison escapee and his crew. Terrified and left for dead, Mari's only hope is to make it back to parents John and Emma. Unfortunately, her attackers unknowingly seek shelter at the one place she could be safe. And when her family learns the horrifying story, they will make three strangers curse the day they came to The Last House on the Left."

Movie type: Suspense Thriller - Like the original 1972 film, this is a very brutal and graphic horror/revenge film, but it doesn't have a lot of the broad humor of that first film. Those sensitive to brutal violence including rape and a lot of bloody gore would be best to steer clear.

Director: Dennis Iliadis

Starring: Sara Paxton (Mari Collingwood), Monica Potter (Emma Collingwood), Tony Goldwyn (John Collingwood)

Length: 1 hr. 50 min.

Script: Adam Alleca, Carl Ellsworth, Wes Craven

Reviews:

Berardinelli, Internet Critic: “Above Average Do I recommend the film? It's a tough call. There is much to admire about the production, and it held my attention for its entire length. Viewed from a detached perspective, it is well-made.”

Roger Ebert: “Above Average I approach the new film as simply a filmgoer. I must say it is very well made. The rape scene appalled me. Other scenes, while violent, fell within the range of contemporary horror films, which strive to invent new ways to kill people, so the horror fans in the audience will get a laugh.”

USA Today: “Poor Steer as clear as you possibly can from The Last House on the Left.”

Newsday: “Good An effectively brutal, gory update of the 1972 classic.”
