The number of connected main lines dropped by more than 20,000 in July from June to 3,459,639, the National Communications Authority (NCA) said on Tuesday. There were 34.29 main lines for every 100 people in July, down from 34.50 at the end of June and 35.57 at end-July 2004, the NCA added.
The average duration of calls per main line dropped to 186 minutes in July from 199.9 minutes in June.
The average duration of originated calls went down to 3.03 minutes from 3.04 minutes.
The ratio of households with connected main lines was 69.0% at the end of July, down 0.4% from end-June.
The ratio of ISDN main lines was 16.57%, down from 16.61% in June and 16.66% at the end of 2004.
The NCA also published number portability figures for the fixed-line segment. There were 10,030 numbers carried in July and 34,718 numbers carried in the first seven months of the year. In 2004, the first year when number portability was available, a total of 47,864 numbers were carried.
