Budapest Exiles RFC: 'Giving Back To The Community', 1 August |
|
"This Saturday saw the Budapest Exiles RFC start the first of what the club hopes will be a series of a charity events to help a Bicske childrens foster home. The idea behind the partnership with the Kossuth Zsuzsa Foster Home stems from the friendship between Arnold Dobos and Árpád Bárnai, the educator within the home, who happen to be old school friends. It aims to provide an outlet for both the club and the home to work together to raise the profile of a local charity, whilst also allowing some of the players to give something back to the community.Saturday saw 20 players, their partners and children take part in a day´s activities in Bicske, including basketball and touch rugby competitions, swimming and face paintings to entertain both the children from the home as well as the players themselves.
Given the fact that the players from the Budapest Exiles come from all round the world, there were a certain number of language difficulties to overcome, but in the end of the day, having fun is a universal language and it was a great success with over 35 children and young adults enjoying a day´s entertainment in the sun. We could not have been able to make this day happen without the help and amazing generosity of our partners in this event - HBO Central Europe for their supply to children's toys and other gifts (HBO (Home Box Office), America's leading premium television network now based in Central and Eastern Europe) Decathlon Tizproba for the donation of sports kits and equipment (Europe's leading sports retailer) The generosity of both companies will really help with the development and enjoyment of the children in the Kossuth Zsuzsa Foster Home. The next event in the calendar is the Budapest ½ Marathon when 10 players, as well as a number of other people associated with the club and also 2 staff and 5 children from the Foster home will raise money for the charity by running the 21km course through the streets of Budapest in the September sunshine. Any one interested in becoming involved with the team, in either a play or charity capacity, or running the Budapest ½ Marathon with us, should contact the Budapest Exiles RFC via their website or on 70/573-4351 (Arnold Dobos)."
