"Having earned a berth at the group stage of the Champions League, the players at Debrecen aren’t the only winners. It is an exceptional opportunity for Budapest also, for each home game of DVSC will be held here, generating huge international interest” explained László Fekete, general manager of the Tourism Office of Budapest (BTO) the city’s tourism marketing board. This is why BTO finds it of crucial importance to ensure that foreign clubs and fans alike are provided with adequate information and to reach out to those arriving to Budapest.
As part of the initiative, a separate landing page will be created on the official tourism website of Budapest (www.budapestinfo.hu), enabling sports enthusiasts to find all necessary information on games as well as on other attractions of the city, in three different languages.
On Facebook, perhaps the most popular social networking site, banner ads promoting Budapest and targeted at young men above 18 years of age who live in the metropolitan areas of Lyon, Florence and Liverpool will be placed. Moreover, BTO will also contact directly the clubs themselves, in order to interact with a large number of fans.
Foreign fans landing at Budapest will be handed copies of the Budapest Guide, meanwhile each Tourinform office will be offering a special welcome package to every spectator-to-be.
Further details of the initiative will be elaborated by BTO in cooperation with the City Image Advisory Office."
