Grandma’s Pancakes In Budapest Are The Greatest Of All

Grandma’s Pancakes In Budapest Are The Greatest Of All
“It would have been wonderful if my Grandma coddled me with so many delicious pancakes! Unfortunately it wasn’t so, but it could have been. That’s where the name comes from.”

Grandma’s Delicious Pancakes have been served for over ten years now in Budapest in four different restaurants, probably the most popular of them being the one on Batthy·ny Square. It slightly resembles the gingerbread-house from the famous fairy tale where everyone enters the house, eats the sweet or salty pancakes, and never leaves. When you enter the restaurant you also have the feeling that you might be in a strange mirror land, as all the walls are covered with them and you can easily be tricked by illusions of where the walls are and where you see only the reflections of them.

Since the restaurant is a non-stop, fast food place, there are no waiters; hence, you can order your pancakes at the counter then take them to the table. As Granny’s Pancakes are very popular in town, you may find yourself at the end of a long queue upon arrival, but be patient because it will pay off! You will certainly not be disappointed with your choice.

The wide and adventurous selection of pancakes is very creatively listed on old frying pans hung above the counter. The brave can try out the salted fillings, such as spinach, sheep’s cheese, mushroom, and broccoli, while for the sweet-toothed poppy seed, chestnut, cottage cheese, cinnamon, banana, and the must-try marzipan awaits.

It’s worth going upstairs and finding a table by the window, for you will have a view of the Parliament on the opposite river bank while eating the best pancakes in Budapest!
