The moment you enter Kiadó Restaurant (which in Hungarian means “to let”), you are completely overtaken by its cozy atmosphere. You are enveloped by the warm colors, striped floor and pastel walls, mellow lighting, and shelves filled with old books. Kiadó is a perfect place for hiding from the cold and having the first mug of mulled wine of the season.Located on 3 Jókai Square (two minutes from Oktogon), the restaurant is not only bicycle-friendly, but also the ideal place for hanging out with friends or for precious time to yourself. Although, it is not one of the trendy “ruin pubs”, be aware that it can easily become your haunt, for in Kiadó the waitresses are affable and helpful, the music is catchy and not disturbing, and the rest of the guests are very friendly, congenial people.
Kiadó is a restaurant and café two in one. Hence, you can choose from a wide range of beverages and meals. They offer various kinds of p·linka and their list of other spirits is also compelling. The place opens at 10 AM and breakfast is served as late as 1PM. Therefore, even sleepyheads can have their first bite there before starting the day. For dinner you can choose from a wide range of soups, salads, and various meals of Hungarian and Italian cuisine.
Their Caesar salad is wonderful and made of warm, spicy slices of chicken, fresh, crispy vegetables, and mouthwatering dressing. Expats must try “lángos” (oil-fried yeast dough), served with garlic and sour cream, which is one of the masterpieces of Hungarian cuisine.
Although its name suggests that this restaurant is to let, I dare state that, without a doubt, it is definitely not, and all should hope not, because Kiadó is one of the most popular and unique places in the neighborhood.
