The European Commission is concerned about the budgetary situation in Hungary, which has sharply revised up its budget deficit targets, EU executive spokeswoman Amelia Torres said on Wednesday.Torres said that the Commission would take into account the budgetary developments in Hungary in a planned re-assessment of the EU newcomers's fiscal programme, due in coming weeks.
"We are seriously concerned about the budgetary situation in Hungary. We will take into account recent budgetary developments in our re-assessment, which is due soon," she told Reuters.
