"Mr. Reiner Schränkler has been elected Chairman of Board of Directors of Budapest Airport at today’s meeting of the company’s top decision making body. Mr Schränkler takes over the post of Chairman of Budapest Airport from Dr. Reinhard Kalenda who has left Hochtief AirPort and Budapest Airport by 31st December 2009.
Mr. Reiner Schränkler (46 years) has studied business administration and public administration. Between 1990 and 2005 he worked in investment banking, and was based in London from 1993. He worked for Citigroup between 1997 and 2005. He focused on construction, engineering, infrastructure, transportation and media sectors. Mr. Schränkler joined HOCHTIEF in 2005. He is Executive Board member HOCHTIEF Concessions AG is in charge of the company’s airport business.
He is also CEO of the investment partnership HOCHTIEF AirPort Capital GmbH & KGaA (HTAC) and member of Supervisory Boards of Düsseldorf and Hamburg airports (both belonging to the HOCHTIEF AirPort group). From 15th February 2010 he took up the post of Chairman of Budapest Airport.
Shortly after his election to this post Mr. Reiner Schränkler has said: „It is an honor and also a great challenge to head such an important company like Budapest Airport. Even in difficult times for the whole world aviation community Budapest Airport has continued to improve its efficiency, realized the potential for future development. I am sure that as the main international airport of Hungary Budapest Airport will contribute both to the development of the country’s economy and tourism industry.”
At the meeting two new members were elected members of Board of Directors of Budapest Airport Mr. Csaba Kákosy, former Hungarian Minister of Transport and Mr. Konrad Kreuzer, Chairman of E.ON Hungária Zrt."
