Hungarian Socialists Highlight Taxes And Infrastructure
"A revised tax regime, motorway development and Roma integration are among the ideas in a 60-page policy platform to be presented by prime ministerial candidate Attila Mesterházy at the Socialists opening campaign rally on Saturday.

The document speaks of further tax cuts and the need to transform the tax regime, and suggests that wages can be raised by 12% in real terms over four years.

Hot meal vouchers would be exempt from taxation next year, and the system of meal vouchers as a form of payment would be ex-panded at the end of the economic crisis.

The document states that economic con-ditions for adopting the euro could be met by January 1, 2014.

The section on development projects mentions the construction of an M8 and M9 motorway, along with the upgrade of over 500km of road with EU funds.

Roma integration is a top priority in the platform, which says the party supports a pro-posal by ombudsmen that statistical data be collected on criminals’ ethnic origin.

The document proposes that MPs who do not regularly attend Parliament should not re-ceive their salaries.

In defence matters, the Socialists propose that a 4,000-strong volunteer reserve force be created.

The document calls for the registration of individual contribution accounts in social in-surance. The Socialists would set up a centre to take up individual customer complaints against banks."
