"Hungarian fuels group MOL will raise the price of gasoline and diesel by HUF 6 per litre each on Wednesday, Portfolio.hu has learned on Monday. The company’s move is no surprise, considering the increase in fuel rates over the past week.MOL will increase the gross wholesale list price of both gasoline and diesel by HUF 6 per litre on Wednesday (24 Feb). As a result retailers will pay HUF 307.5 per litre for gasoline and HUF 284.9 per litre for diesel based on MOL list prices.
Although each petrol station has its own pricing model, drivers should expect to pay about HUF 6 more per litre for both fuel types at the pumps - HUF 324-335 for gasoline and HUF 300-301 for a litre of diesel oil.
MOL's move comes as no surprise, considering that gasoline rates rose by 5.9% in USD and 6.8% in HUF last week (by the end of Friday, as the forint has eased some vs. the greenback to around 200.60 from 198.90) and diesel rates went up by 8.4% in USD and 9.3% in HUF terms.
Relative to the last price change (which we believe was 5 February in case of gasoline and 15 January in case of diesel), gasoline rates on the world market rose 7.6% by the end of last Friday and the increase in diesel rates came to 7.7%.
The HUF 6 price hike is a considerable one. Apart from an excise tax hike, MOL last raised its prices by this much in December 2009."
