"The National Bank of Hungary’s (NBH) projection for a missed budget deficit target in 2010 is based on the assumption that the (next) government will not be able to maintain the fiscal rigour, Finance Minister Péter Oszkó said."We had had the same difference between the government’s estimate and other prognoses [...], but the cabinet proved its right in 2009 and demonstrated that with an appropriately strict fiscal policy and discipline even tight spending targets could be met," Oszkó told local newswire MTI.
"If the government continues to pursue such a disciplined fiscal policy throughout the year, both the spending goals and the 3.8% (of GDP) deficit target are achievable," he added."
