"Former Olympic wrestling gold medalist Péter Farkas was flown home to Hungary last night after authorities in Andorra handed him over to Hungarian police officers at a customs office on the Andorran-Spanish border.He had gone on the run after being sentenced to a seven-year prison term on December 12, 2009, for cultivating marijuana.
Farkas, who won the 82-kg Greco-Roman gold medal in the Barcelona games of 1992, left the courtroom during a break in proceed-ings and did not return. He was arrested in an Andorran hotel later that month.
Police discovered and impounded thousands of plants in a search of an 18th District house on October 14, 2004. The former Olympic champion, his brother Károly Farkas and a third man were detained on the spot.
Farkas was brought back to Hungary shortly before midnight, Kossuth Rádió reported. He was then driven to a Budapest prison."
