"Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis and a group from the Embassy traveled to the city of Hódmezővásárhely to watch the U.S. Olympic water polo team play against the Hungarians on February 25.The Hungarians were hosting the 4th International Volvo Tournament with teams from the U.S., Canada, Australia and Hungary. In a vigorously fought match, the U.S. team lost 11-5 to the Hungarians, the gold medalists in the Beijing Olympics.
Before the game, Ambassador Kounalakis presented the U.S. team with a sports diplomacy award for strengthening the bonds of friendship between the U.S. and Hungary through excellence in athletic performance and competition. "
