Hungary's state privatisation agency APV confirmed on Thursday that it would soon relaunch the tender process for the sale of Budapest Airport, by invitation to the top five bidders shortlised in the previous tender."APV...has started preparing the new tender process and is holding detailed consultation with the workers' council and representatives at BA Rt," it said in a statement.
The government on Wednesday authorised APV to relaunch the tender, for 75 percent minus one share in Budapest Airport, as the previous one had to be cancelled after a Budapest court ruled it was invalid due to insufficient consultation with workers.
The five who made it to the second round are Germany's Hochtief AG Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport AG , Britain's BAA Plc , Denmark's Copenhagen Airports A/S and Australia's Macquarie Airports Holdings Ltd .
The government expects the transaction to be complete by the end of this year and the top first round bids was almost $2 billion, twice what had been expected.
