Extreme Cold Blamed For Five Deaths In Hungary
"A total of five people died of exposure in the heavy snow and unusually cold weather that enveloped Hungary over the weekend. A man who fell to the ground in the courtyard of his house in Mezőkövesd on Friday, was unable to get up and died of exposure in the –15C temperature.

Another man died of the cold in his home in Garabonc, Zala county. The 61-year-old was found in his ice-cold flat on Saturday.

Police announced the deaths of three other persons due to exposure.

Police have rescued 152 people at risk from the cold. Spokesman László Garamvölgyi said that the most help was required in Győr and Pest counties

Hostels for the homeless filled to capacity in Budapest at the weekend. Police, MÁV, the churches and local governments all opened temporary places for the homeless."
