"The true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic outlaw tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant's family in his novel "The Wettest County In The World", the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation's most notorious crime wave."Movie type: Crime Drama Western - Despite the more action-oriented marketing campaign, this Prohibition-eraperiod film is more of a slower-moving drama, and more in tone with a western than a gangster film like The Untouchables. That said, there are a number of very violent scenes, so parents of kids who are fans of star Shia LaBeouf's Transformers work should be advised. Fans of LaBeouf should be pleased with this change of pace serious dramatic showcase; other known stars such as Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, and especially Gary Oldman have smaller supporting roles. There is also some nudity and a fair amount of harsh language.

Reviews:
Berardinelli, Internet Critic: “Good Lawless is a tense, engaging piece that finds time for moments of levity, darker comedy, and romance.”
Roger Ebert: “Above Average 'Lawless' is a well-made film about ignorant and violent people.”
USA Today: “Average The unflinching slicing and dicing is viscerally brutal, but without sufficient character development Lawless simply feels lifeless.”
Chicago Tribune: “Above Average Hardy is so charismatic, though, you may stick with 'Lawless' through thick and thin anyway.”
