Ferenc Gyurcsany: EU-Russian relations important for Hungary

"The Hungarian authorities attach great importance to the development of relations between Russia and the European Union, Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany said in a Monday interview with Interfax ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin's February 28-March 1 official visit to Hungary.

"Negotiations with President Vladimir Putin definitely mark a new epoch in Hungarian-Russian relations. The last time we had an opportunity to welcome the Russian president in Budapest within the framework of bilateral meetings was in 1992," he said.

Documents to be signed during Putin's visit to Hungary include a memorandum of the top priority objectives and tasks of business cooperation, an action plan for the two nations' high technologies development project, an agreement to set up a nanotechnologies center, and two agreements on cooperation with the governments of Russia's Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, the prime minister said."
