Flute masters meet for rare ensemble

"The 2006 Flute Festival, which has been titled Floating in Spring, is unprecedented in bringing international masters from Europe, North American and Asia together.

Six internationally renowned masters of the flute will be converging together in Taiwan for a rare ensemble that will be music to the ears of classical aficionados.

Andras Adorjan was born in Budapest, Hungary, and lived in Denmark since 1956. Adorjan originally started studying to become a dentist and received his diploma in Copenhangen in 1968, but simultaneously studied music, which he focused on more following winning the top prize of the Price Gade Jacob in Copenhagen and at Montreu's Contest International of Flute. His win in Paris's International Flute Contest then launched his international career.

Adorjan has since played solo for the orchestras of Stockholm, Cologne, Baden-Baden and Munich. His affection for chamber music has also seen him as a guest at music festivals in Ansbach, Divonne, Dubrovnick, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Korsholm, Kuhmo, Kusatsu, Lockenhaus, Montreux, Moscow, Newport and the Schleswig-Holstein."
