28th Budapest International Marathon Madness
This Budapest Marathon will be held for 28th time this Sunday, sponsored by SPAR. As well as the main event, also available are The Riska Minimarathon, Danone Fun Run and Spar Walking and Family Run which are shorter distance runs giving an opportunity for everyone to participate regardless of age or ability so that even whole families can share in the mad marathon atmosphere.

According to organisers 4300+ runners will take part in the marathon distance, with almost half of them coming from abroad. Over 60 different countries will be represented, and so there's no doubt this is Budapest's major international marathon event, yet its said that the course won't be overcrowded but runners won't feel alone on the route either.

The main scenic course leads through the most beautiful parts of Budapest, past buildings which are part of the World Heritage. Runners are encouraged to come and admire the panorama of the capital from both banks of the river Danube, see the bridges over the river while crossing them and when running under them. All the available distances are 42 km, unique 30 km, relay for 4 runners, mini-marathon (7 km), fun run (2,7 km).

Everyone is invited to get in the mood for the big day with the earlier Metropol Breakfast run, a relatively easy jog of 3.3 km with a breakfast prepared for runners at the finish line. All those interested will meet at Budapest's 56-osok Square at 9am.
